    1. Menu Bar

      The green menu bar at the top of the Desktop window allows you to access Help, refresh your screen, view/modify your settings, or open WFMZ.com  in your Internet browser.


      1. Help
        The HELP button will take you to the AccuWeather.com® Desktop Help Files.


      2. Refresh
        The REFRESH button will reload the Desktop information, making sure that you are seeing the most up-to-date information possible.


      3. Settings
        The SETTINGS button allows you to view and/or edit your Desktop preferences. When you click the SETTINGS button, the Settings window will appear.



        Zipcode — The zipcode that is entered here is the zipcode for which you will receive local forecasts, as well as watches and warnings. To change the zipcode, enter the new zipcode in the box, and then click the Update ZIP code button.

        Automatic Weather Updates — When this box is checked, weather updates will automatically be sent to your desktop.

        Automatic Severe Weather Check — When this box is checked, your Desktop will automatically check for severe weather in your area and report it to the desktop.

        Enable Sounds — When this box is checked, sound is turned on.

        Temperature Only in System Tray — When this box is checked, the icon in the system tray will constantly display the current temperature. When this box is not checked, the icon will alternate between the current temperature and an icon displaying the current conditions.

        Mini-Desktop always on top — When this box is checked, any time the main Desktop screen is minimized, a mini-Desktop will appear on your screen and will be always on top. The mini-Desktop displays the Desktop logo and the current temperature for your location. If you pass the mouse over the temperature, it will change to current conditions. If this box is not checked, the mini-Desktop will fall behind other programs on your screen.

           

      4. WFMZ.COM
        This button will open your browser and take you to the WFMZ-TV home page.



    2. Weather Alert Bar

      The Weather Alert Bar displays whether there is severe weather in the area or not. When there is no severe weather, the bar will be blue. When there is severe weather, the bar will be red. There will also be informational text in the bar.

      When the bar is clicked, a browser will open and display a Watches/Warnings page.



    3. News Headlines Bar

      The Weather Headlines Bar displays messages of interest from AccuWeather. When clicked, it will open a browser and display an appropriate page.



    4. Current Conditions

      This area of the Desktop displays the current conditions reported for the ZIP code specified in SETTINGS.

      If you click on the icon or the city name, a browser will open and display a detailed current conditions page for your area.



    5. Get Your Local Forecast

      If you click on this section of the Desktop screen, a browser will open and show you the AccuWeather Channel home page.  You will then be able to choose from a variety of local and regional weather information.

    7. Local Radar

      This area of the AccuWeather.com® Desktop is dedicated to the local radar for our region. If you click on the radar map, a browser will open and display the
      a larger version of this image


  2. System Tray Icon
      The icons to the left are zoomed examples of system tray icons.

    The system tray icon will be displayed even when the main Desktop screen is minimized or closed.

    The icon in the system tray will either alternate between the current temperature and current conditions, or it will constantly display the current temperature. This is configurable in the SETTINGS. When you pass the mouse over the icon, text will appear that details the current temperature and conditions.



  3. Tray Popup Menu


    To access the tray popup menu, right click on the system tray icon.

    The following options are available from the tray menu:
    Desktop — Click here to activate or de-activate the main desktop screen.

    AccuWeather Channel — Click here to view the AccuWeather Channel home page.

    69News Headlines — Click here to see the latest headlines from WFMZ-TV 69News

    Hourly Forecast — Click here to access "Hour by Hour" forecast

    10 Day Forecast — Click here to access the 10 Day AccuWeather forecast
